Engineered for Safety
Playing it safe
While innovation and speed are major components of how we operate, everything we create is engineered for safety. Because in today's oilfield, it pays to capitalize on every opportunity to reduce exposure to unnecessary safety hazards. OIL units improve safety by:
- Eliminating personnel on the catwalk
- Eliminating moving cables and rotating sheaves on the floor
- Unit tracks back and forth to the rig floor
- Eliminating the swinging of block during pick-up and laydown operations
This pole-less design of our units promotes safety on the rig floor, lessens the risk of damage to the rig caused by tying to beams, and eliminates the hand traps that are prevalent with the outdated pole units.
The unit sets up along side the pipe rack – enabling a single man to load or offload joints of pipe. It’s built to adapt from catwalk or ground-level and can even be operated in tight locations. The unit can accomplish fast and precise delivery of pipe to and from the rig floor and is able to pick-up and laydown pipe on both the left and the right side of the unit without changing the position of the unit.
In terms of space, the PAL Unit is designed with a small footprint – making it effective for both onshore and offshore applications. Also, set-up can be accomplished in as little as 15 minutes – making the most of rig time and eliminating needless delays.
The 4-joystick controls allow the unit to be remotely operated and can be located to provide both high visibility and comfort for the operator. The joysticks provide precise control of the unit, ensuring fast operation and a safe, smooth movement of tubulars to and from the rig floor.
